Donnie and I played PBC baseball together for 8 years
on the Cubs - a team originally managed by Matt Cordaro and later by my
dad who was assisted by Dons dad Ken Kreuscher Sr. Dons dad and mom
Ruth were like surrogate parents to most of us on the team, and Don was
our all-star catcher. Don was the consumate catcher with an arm like a
cannon, frequently throwing out baserunners from a crouch. When I was pitching
instead of playing third base, Don knew how to call the game for any
player in the league. Donnie was an incredible athlete who lettered
in 3 sports at Calhoun, and was a great guy who was liked by everyone.
